Much Needed R&R

Well, I have a super fantabulous husband---I know, I know--I say this all the time, but he really out did himself this time!

A few weeks ago, Chris and I talked about not celebrating Valentine's Day until the weekend after.  We have been out on Valentine's Day in the past, and we end up wondering why we went out because we don't like all the crowds.  He told me he made plans for Auntie Jen and Uncle John to come for the evening so we could go out to dinner. I suggested that maybe he could ask them to spend the night so we could go to a hotel for the night since we never celebrated our anniversary because of my foot injury.   He told me that he didn't think it was a good time to do it, so I just dropped it--OK, I didn't completely drop it, but gave some hints that I thought it would be really nice.  He didn't change his mind, so I resigned myself to the fact that it was going to be just dinner.

Well, Friday afternoon around 2:30pm, he told me to go upstairs and pack the bag on the bed because in 30 minutes I would be leaving our house and not coming back until the next day.  I was totally shocked--he said my face was priceless.  I went upstairs and started packing having no idea what I was packing for.   We got in the car, and he brought me to a spa.  I spent almost 4 hours in the spa getting a body exfoliating wrap, massage, a manicure and a pedicure.  He then picked me--let's just say I was REALLY relaxed at this point--and brought me to our hotel room.  We got changed and headed to dinner at Benihana.  After dinner, we stopped at Wegmans to get a dessert since Chris forgot the cheesecake at home.  We went back to the hotel, watched some TV and ate dessert.  It was so nice to sleep through the night--not that we don't do that at home, but I don't sleep as well when listening for the children.  Chris got us a package at the hotel that allowed us to have a free movie, free breakfast and a check out at 4pm.  So we spent all morning and afternoon in bed watching TV and eating.  We ordered room service for breakfast, watched a movie, watched TV and ordered pizza for lunch.  It was so nice to not have to do anything.  The last few months have been very draining for us--God has given us A LOT of ministry.  Don't get me wrong--we are not at all complaining and feel VERY honored that He saw fit to use us, but we both realized that we needed this time to recharge and reconnect as a couple so we can continue to be used by God to minister those around us.

We both look forward to how God is going to continue to use us after this much needed weekend of R&R.
