Surprise, Bup-Bup

Well, Josiah and I are in GA.  We got here Sunday night and will be staying until Monday.  We came down to surprise my dad for his 60th birthday.  We left from DC and hour later than we were supposed to.  Our flight to Atlanta was great.  Chris and I had kept Josiah up from his afternoon nap thinking he would sleep on the plane.  Well, that plan backfired.  He was SUPER though.  We sat next to a young girl who loved children and a dad that had 3 boys.  Josiah charmed them with his wondeful personality.  Towards the end of the flight, he was sitting in the young girls lap and then off to the dad's lap to look out the window.  He eventually came back to me, but as we were landing he saw all the stuff out the window and wanted to go back to the man's lap.  We may need to work extra hard with him about strangers!  Smile By the time we landed, we had 20 minutes to get to our next flight.  Josiah and I arrived at the gate, and I wanted to change him before we got on the plane.  The attendant said we were the last one to load the plane and asked for me to change him in the bathroom.  I wasn't about to change him in that tiny bathroom.  It is hard enough to have one person in there, I couldn't imagine what it would be like with the two of us in there.  So like any good mom, I changed him right in the empty seat next to me.  Josiah did a great job on the flight to Valdosta.  At this point he had been up over 7 hours since his 45 minute nap that morning!  Not once did he cry or get fussy.  We arrived in Valdosta and Mimi and Auntie Sue were there to welcome us at the airport.  Auntie Sue had made a bow for us to tie around Josiah so when we arrived at the house he would be Papa's birthday present.  We knocked on the door and Papa opened it open to see Josiah being held up in the air.  He was definitely surprised when he saw him.  I think we did a great birthday present this year!

Before we left for GA, we got a reading program "Your Baby Can Read."  Well, Josiah has started "reading" his first words.  I will hold up two flashcards and call out a word.  Josiah will grab the word that I've called out.  It is absolutely AMAZING!  I'm a little sad that Daddy wasn't here to see him read his first words, but we have SKYPED, and Josiah has showed him his reading over the computer.

Josiah has been having LOTS of fun swimming in the pool.  I don't know who is having more fun--Josiah or Mimi.  The afternoon storms have been a little problem, so he hasn't been able to stay in as long as he would like.  Today, we are going to try to get in earlier before the afternoon storms come in.

Well, I'm sure we will have some pictures when we get home or maybe even before.
