Well, Josiah and I have made it back to VA after spending a few days in VT. We flew to VT for my cousin's baby shower. She didn't know we were coming, so it was a nice to surprise her. We had a VERY busy few days and Josiah met LOTS of people while he was there!
My mom was flying up from GA and happened to have a lay over here at Dulles. She did some research and was able to find a decent ticket for me and Josiah that was on her same flight. She only had a 40 minute layover, which turned out to be way shorter than that. She rounded the corner as we were getting ready to board. While we were waiting for Mimi, he ate his lunch. Once we boarded the plane, he nursed until he fell asleep. Yet again, Josiah was AMAZING on the flight! We arrived in VT Friday afternoon. My cousin picked us up from the airport and brought her back to her mom's house. After getting settled at Auntie Doris', we went to see Big Grammy at the nursing home. She said that she recognized my mom and I, but she didn't know who the baby was. She thought Josiah was a cute baby, but didn't think he looked like me. I asked her if she was saying I was ugly and she told me she wasn't the one to say it!
On Saturday Josiah rose pretty early--which would be the pattern of our time in VT. The sun rises a lot earlier, so he would wake up between 5:30am and 5:45am. Saturday afternoon was the baby shower, so we spent most of the morning helping get ready. Josiah had LOTS of aunts who were willing to take care of him. The shower was a lot of fun. It is always exciting to celebrate a new life and to be a part of that. Josiah started running a little bit of a fever--his two top, middle teeth were cutting through--so we stayed home while Mimi went to visit Big Gram at the nursing home. We did manage to go for a little bit of a walk to get some fresh air. He really seemed to enjoy his time outside. I enjoyed the fact that I had some big hills to walk up and enjoyed all the beautiful scenery. God really speaks to me through His creation, and I enjoyed soaking it all up! We ate dinner, then hung out for awhile. After Josiah went to bed, we watched a little hockey on TV--another thing that I miss---HOCKEY!
On Sunday, we celebrate Mother's Day with my gram at the nursing home. We had a nice brunch with all my aunts and a few of my cousins. Again, Josiah was surrounded by his aunts who wanted to love on him. I was nursing Josiah in hopes he would fall asleep. My gram looked over at me and asked, "What's he doin' under there, suckin'?" Her comment tickled me so much that if Josiah was trying to go to sleep, my laughter probably stopped it! We laid low on Sunday afternoon, then went back to the nursing home on Sunday night. We got her ready for bed and changed her sheets so she would have a nice clean bed. It was then home to watch some more hockey on TV.
On Monday, I spent the morning with my Auntie Ellen, while Josiah spent some time with his Mimi. They went to visit his Great-great Aunt Hilda, while we went shopping. We all got home shortly after lunch and just visited. Then we went to Bragg Farm to get a maple creeme. It was absolutely fabulous! We had a nice dinner that night which Auntie Doris made. Most of the family came over to visit and to say their good-byes. After dinner, we went to see Baby V's nursery. My cousin has an absolutely beautiful view of the VT mountains. The view of Camel's Hump is so breathtaking. While we were there, Josiah was able to feed some fish in the pond. He enjoyed watching the fish splash to the surface to get their food. He was so taken by the action. We played a trick on Jonny V. He was holding Josiah, and we all got in the car to leave. We had been saying good-bye, but he was in such conversation with Uncle Jimmy that he didn't even realize we were in the car. When he did, he got a little panicked and started walking pretty fast toward the car stuttering, "I think you forgot something! I think you forgot something!" We all busted out laughing. The pregnant one and the recently pregnant one were crossing our legs so we wouldn't pee our pants! Once we got Josiah to bed, it was time for some more hockey!
On Tuesday, we got up and got ready for the day. After we were all packed, we went to see Gram one last time before we headed to the airport. We had a little tea party with her. Again she thought Josiah was cute and I was ugly! She even mentioned that his Mimi was ugly, too! : ) We had a great flight home. Josiah was great on the plane--even the stewardess mentioned how good he was. Josiah was definitely happy to be home and to see his Daddy. Mommy was glad to see Daddy, too!
We had lots of fun visiting our family. I know Josiah won't remember it, but it was nice to be able to take pictures of him with his family.
